Safety

It must be stressed that the purpose of the Green Mountains Walking Group is to bring people together to share a walk, visit, event etc. The group does not provide walk leaders and therefore anyone who attends must take responsibility for themselves. You should know your own limitations, and consider the difficulty of the walks proposed. Some of the walks could be long and require a degree of fitness and suitable clothing and footwear. Others will be less demanding.

We will endeavour to describe walks well enough so you can get a clear idea of the likely difficulty. We will also generally suggest two alternatives so there is an easier option. Please consider carefully the nature of any walk you wish to participate in, and if you think you may not be physically fit and able enough be prudent, or ask the advice of someone who knows the walk.

You should ensure you are properly equipped. As required make sure you bring:
  • waterproof jacket
  • overtrousers
  • walking boots
  • warm clothing, hat, gloves
  • food
  • drink
  • a map and the ability to use it, if you're likely to strike out on your own
If you have any doubts about the nature of the walk or what you need to bring then please ask.
