Sunday October 23rd. Helvellyn from Glenridding

posted 14 Sep 2011, 07:37 by jenny rookes
This is the classic high level, approach to Helvellyn from Ullswater and the summit can be attained along the famous Striding Edge or by the less demanding route up Swirral Edge and over Catstycam.
We will meet at Glenridding village car park at 10.15 and walkers need to be prepared for a strenuous but exhilerating and rewarding walk. Good footwear and waterproofs are essential, as well as your own refreshments.
Walkers who do not wish to go as high as the summit of Helvellyn can take the steadily ascending path from Glenridding towards Red Tarn or Grisedale Tarn and meet up with the descending Helvellyn party there.

This walk may be changed on the day if the weather conditions make it unwise to attempt Striding Edge.

Please let me know if you are interested in coming, especially if you need, or can offer a lift.
In gassho
Jenny
