Sunday 27 November : Isaac's Tea Trail

posted 23 Nov 2011, 14:29 by jenny rookes
Just a reminder of the walk this Sunday  We have made some changes to the arrangements since the original post so please note that , we will still meet in the Car Park of the Allendale Bakery ( take the Carrshield/Nenthead road after passing through Catton . The Bakery is in the Allendale Mill complex - , NE47 9EQ for those of you with sat nav. - and you will see the notice boards on the roadside). From there we will be driven to the start of the walk, which is now going to be where the Trail crosses the Ninebanks Road, at Ninebanks church, just above the Malakoff Bridge 78' 20'E /52' 50' N . where we will meet the monks walking down from Throssel. From there we will all walk back to the Bakery for tea and cake, through Whitfield woods and along the river valley. This makes the walk quite a bit shorter so we would hope to be at the Bakery again by 3.30 at the latest.  and, while it may be muddy in places, it should be well sheltered from the weather and does not involve any strenuous climbs.
As always you will need good, waterproof boots and clothes suitable for wet and cold weather. I'm afraid that I don't know if there are many stiles on the route , although  suspect there will be a few!
Anyone needing or able to offer a lift should send an e mail via the googlegroup or get in touch with me
