Keswick and Latrigg Fell, 19th February

posted 11 Feb 2012, 09:22 by jenny rookes
Dear Green Mountaineers, next Sunday's walk is an easy 7 mile hike starting from the centre of Keswick and ascending gradually to the top of Latrigg Fell with spectacular views over Keswick and the Lake before returning on a delightful riverside path. There are a variety of good paths throughout the Fell, suitable for all walkers and we'll be back in good time for tea in the village before we have to head home.

Please meet at the Moot Hall in the pedestrianised centre of Keswick at 10.30 and bring packed lunch, warm clothes and good boots.I suggest that you park in Skiddaw Street outside the convention centre.  There is always plenty of space available in that area.  Parking in the centre of Keswick is time-limited and expensive but here it is unlimited and free so that you don’t have to worry about getting back at a specific time

If you approach Keswick from Penrith on the A66. 3-4 miles after passing the village of Threlkeld you will see a turn off on the left marked Keswick. Take this turn and follow the road down the hill towards the town centre. As you get nearer to the centre you will pass a large petrol station on your left. A short distance after this ( ~ 300 metres) you will see a residential home on the left with Millfield in large letters on the side. Take the left turn alongside this which leads to Blencathra St. Follow the road as it bends to the right (NB. Do NOT go straight up the hill where the newer houses are built). Then take the first turn on the left into Skiddaw Street and park on the left hand side, outside of the Convention Centre. This place is vey easy to find but if you have any problems on the day please phone me on my mobile :

Is any one able to offer a lift from Lancaster area ? We have one person who would like to come on the walk but is without transport. If you can (or if you need a lift yourself) please e mail me on
