Holystone, Lady's Well, Dove Crag -- 16 February

posted 29 Jan 2014, 08:05 by Ashley Price-Sabate
On Sunday, 16 February, we will be walking in the enchanting (and many say sacred) Holystone Woods.  The route will be a moderate 5.5 mile circle, encompassing Lady's Well and Dove Crag.  If you want to get the flavour of the place, as well as a bit of archaeological/historical background on the area, check out this podcast:  http://www.sacredsitespodcast.org/episode_05/  (courtesy of Steve).

We will meet at our usual 10:30 time.  Who knows what the weather will have in store, so do come prepared.  The approximate postcode is:  NE65 7AX.  Here are directions from the Newcastle area given on a web site featuring the walk:  How to get there Take A696 north out of Newcastle upon Tyne and follow B6344 to Rothbury. Take the B6341 Rothbury to Elsdon road turning off right at Swinton. On entering holystone village take a left, the lane will take you to the Forest Walks Carpark.

The important bit is that we will meet at the Forest Walks Carpark ;-)
Please let me know if you intend to come, so that we can have a list of whom to expect (and whom to wait for should anyone run late.)
