27 November 2011 Isaac's Tea Trail from Allendale

The Green Mountains Walking Group is now one year old! So, if you have been saying to yourself for the last twelve months "h'mm must give that a go sometime" this is an excellent opportunity ! The Isaac's Tea Trail celebrates the compassionate activity of a local Allendale hero, and the story is well told in the atachment to this post. The whole walk needs three or four days to complete and we may decide to do the whole thing in stages over the next year but this first instalment is a gentle but picturesque trip from the Youth Hostel at Mohope to Allendale itself, along the Mohope Burn and through the Whitfield woods. It is about 10 km and, while it may be muddy in places, it should be well sheltered from the weather and does not involve any strenuous climbs.
This is a linear walk so I suggest we meet in the car park of the Allendale Bakery by 10.30 and cars will ferry people to Mohope from where we will start walking back to the Bakery and a well earned cup of tea and cake.
As always you will need good, waterproof boots and clothes suitable for wet and cold weather.
Anyone needing or able to offer a lift should send an e mail via the googlegroup or get in touch with me
