2018 Programme of walks

Hi everyone,
after a bit of a break, we are hoping to revive the Green Mountains walking group this year and have a full programme of day walks, once a month from late February until November. Some of the walks will be on Sundays, as before, but some will be on Mondays which is easier for the monks and, hopefully, no more difficult for the householders, most of whom (with some honourable exceptions), are retired or part time or self employed. I know that no dates will suit everyone but I hope there will be some dates that all of us can make.

Some Do's and Don'ts
Do  
  • let the organiser (usually me) know you are coming and, if you change your mind, let me know that too
  • be at the meeting place promptly for the start (10.30 unless otherwise specified)
  • bring stout, walking footwear and suitable clothing ( in practice this always means at least a waterproof jacket and jumper or fleece and often gloves and hat)
  • bring drinks and lunch      
  • suggest routes you think the group would enjoy
        
Don't 
  • think you have to be super fit. Some walks are more strenuous than others, especially the Lake District ones, but the description will always say how long they are and how                      steep.  No one will get left behind and, if someone needs to turn back, someone will always go with them. 
  • think you need to know how to navigate or have a map of your own - there will be a walk leader who can do all of that.
